Student Info

Student accommodation

Accommodation is available for long-distance travellers in Turku for the night between Thursday and Friday. You should bring your own overnight equipment. The info and registration to ensure your sleeping spot can be found here! The student accommodation is only 10€.

The WOP, together with the local social sciences subject association Sosklub, will organise a programme for students to accompany the conference days.

Thursday 20.3. — Sociology hangout

Due to the small number of participants, we will be organizing a relaxed evening hangout instead of the sitz party on Thursday, starting at 6:30 PM. We will gather at Saaristobaari at the end of the first conference day of Sosiologipäivät, where you can expect great company, snacks, and fun! No prior registration is required for the evening hangout. Saaristobaari is located in the center of Turku, Aurakatu 14, 20100 Turku.

After the hangout, we’ll continue the party at Kåren, where the official Sociological Conference afterparty takes place with a DJ set from 22:30 to 00:30. Entry is free! If you still feel like dancing after that, the party will go on at Dynamo, where entry is also free.

Friday 21.3. — Brunch

Before the second day of sociological soul food, we will also offer a free brunch for hungry students on the 4th floor of the Publicum building 9-10am. Come and have a bite to eat, find company for the day’s programme, and shop Social Sciences Club merch! Vegan and gluten-free options will also be available at the brunch. More specific times will be announced at a later date.

Up-to-date information will be posted on the Westermarck Society students’ social media: https://linktr.ee/wopiskelijat
