Signs of the times – possible worlds
Sociology was born to understand changing societies and contemporary social questions. Following C. Wright Mills, Sociology’s task, and its promise, is to interpret social problems in their historical and structural contexts. When offering interpretations of the society, Sociology also creates possible worlds.

How do we interpret these worlds and imagine future possibilities? Sociology inevitably offers a diagnosis of its time. Do social sciences and social research continue to offer timely interpretations? What obligations and opportunities does Sociology have, to react to the signs of the times?
